A 53-year-old Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly shot himself dead at the residence of the Director of Intelligence (IB) in Delhi's Tughlaq Road area on Friday.
A CRPF jawan, Rajbir Singh, fired two rounds at himself from his service AK-47 rifle around 4:00 pm on Friday. His posting was at the IB Director's residence.
Rajbir Singh was on leave for the past few days and returned to duty on Friday.
No suicide note was found at the scene. The victim's family has been informed and an investigation under Section 174 of the Penal Code has been initiated. An autopsy will be conducted on Saturday after which his body will be handed over to his family members, police said.
